Visit to the GYN Oncologist

Before my appointment with my GYN Oncologist, I had researched the pros and cons of doing a D&C when cancer is suspected.  I also knew that this was surgery and I would be put under anesthesia.  Because I have a history of heart issues (triple bi-pass in 2008 and subsequently 3 stents-one in 2011 and two in 2017), we discussed with the doctor the risks and benefits of doing a D&C prior to a hysterectomy.  In the final analysis, if it was cancer I would have to have two surgeries because even a negative result with a D&C could be a false negative.
After examining me and looking at the ultrasound, it was decided that I should undergo a total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo oopherectomy, in other words, taking everything.  Since I was post menopausal I was totally fine with that.

My Surgery was scheduled for July 19th.

First Symptom: Post Menopausal Bleeding

Hi,
Most of you know me as a retired Yacht captain, world traveler, and adventurer turned Artist.
This is the story of  a brand new adventure that I really never thought I would go through.
Two and a half months ago I woke up in a pool of blood.  I had been post menopausal for 20 years so this was out of the blue!  I immediately called my primary care physician and got in that morning.  She ordered an ultrasound which I had later that day.  She also referred me to a GYN.  The ultrasound came showed a large lesion with a small mass embedded. I was referred to a GYN who tried to do a biopsy but could not get through the cervix.  I was sent home with pills to dilate the cervix and returned to the GYN the next day.  They tried again but could not do the biopsy.  While I waited in the office she called a GYN oncologist who agreed that I would need a D&C to find out what was going on.
I had the appointment the next week.
